How to Calculate Your Life Path Number (With Examples)

Your birthday, reduced to a direction

The life path number is numerology’s core reading: the sum of every digit of your birth date, reduced to a single digit — except the master numbers 11, 22 and 33, which stay whole. It describes theroad you walk: your default strengths, lessons and traps. Here’s the exact math.

The method

  1. Write your full birth date in digits. June 15, 1990 → 06/15/1990.
  2. Add every digit: 0+6+1+5+1+9+9+0 = 31.
  3. Reduce: 3+1 = 4. Life path 4, the builder.

Or use the free life path calculator — it does the arithmetic and linksstraight to your number’s page.

Master numbers: the exception

If the total (or any intermediate sum) lands on 11, 22 or 33, stop — do not reduce. Example:November 22, 1985 → 1+1+2+2+1+9+8+5 = 29 → 2+9 = 11. That person is a life path 11 (the intuitiveilluminator), not a 2. Master numbers carry higher voltage and higher maintenance; read them at theirown pages: 11,22, 33.

Reading your number

Each life path page here covers personality, love compatibility and career: fromLife Path 1 the pioneer throughLife Path 9 the humanitarian. Two rules of thumb: the life pathis the road, not your whole chart (attitude and expression numbers refine it); and the “hard”numbers are just the ones with public lessons — a 4 or an 8 at full health outbuilds everyone.

Quick compatibility note

Harmonious pairs often cited: 1-3, 1-5, 2-6, 2-8, 3-5, 4-6, 4-8, 6-9. Friction pairs: two 1s, 1-8,two 8s — unless roles are distinct. Take it as weather, not verdict: full compatibility includes actualhumans. Calculate yours and theirs →
